695 disabled persons to receive artificial limbs in Sirsa
A total of 695 disabled persons will receive artificial limbs and assistive devices at Chaudhary Devilal University’s Multipurpose Hall on March 26 and 27. The event is being organised by the district administration and the Indian Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment's ADIP scheme, and with the support of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur.
The Deputy Commissioner, Shantanu Sharma, said the individuals whose measurements were taken in July 2024 would receive various devices, including battery operated tricycles, artificial limbs, wheelchairs, hearing aids, and more.
On March 26, the devices will be distributed to the disabled persons of Sirsa and Dabwali blocks, while on March 27, those in Ellenabad, Rania, Odhan, Nathusari Chopta, and Baragudha blocks will receive their devices, he said.
Beneficiaries are advised to bring their Aadhaar card and the receipt issued during the camp to ensure they can collect their devices. The total cost of these devices is approximately Rs1.74 crore and these include 225 battery operated tricycles, 122 wheelchairs, 306 hearing aids, 145 tricycles, 24 walking sticks, 96 crutches, and 52 artificial limbs.
Additionally, financial support for these items is provided by the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) for the Sirsa and Dabwali blocks and by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for the other blocks.
