7-day NSS camp at Kurukshetra varsity
A seven-day university-level NSS camp recently began at Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Kurukshetra, under the joint aegis of the National Service Scheme Unit of the university and National Service Scheme Cell, Kurukshetra University.
The camp — themed “Youth for my India and Digital Literacy” — was inaugurated by National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Director Ramana Reddy, the chief guest at the event. Dr Rajendra Vidyalankar, President, Governing Body, said it was the duty of every volunteer to contribute to societal welfare.
NSS volunteers were essential pillars in nation building, he added. He suggested that students develop digital literacy skills to access information efficiently and enhance their learning. They must be cautious of online scams, which could compromise their security and privacy, he added. Kurukshetra University National Service Scheme Cell Coordinator Dr Anand Kumar, as the keynote speaker at the event, said volunteers should lead and help organise campaigns, activities and camps.
He encouraged programme officers to motivate volunteers and instil in them the feeling to serve others. He emphasised the importance of the National Service Scheme’s objectives.
Reddy said such camps gave wings to volunteers.
Principal Dr Upasana Ahuja said such camps provided various opportunities to the volunteers. She also talked about the colours of the NSS Cap.
The eight lines in the cap were inspired by Konark Temple, symbolising positivity and one’s pursuit to work for welfare, she added.
