70.57% paddy lifted from grain markets in Yamunanagar district

Rs 384 crore transferred farmers’ accounts

In grain markets of Yamunanagar district, 2,30,342 MT (70.57 per cent) of paddy has been lifted till October 11. As per record of District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller, Yamunanagar, around 96,061 MT (metric tonnes) of paddy was lying in 13 grain markets of the district. The government agencies have purchased a total 3,27,013 MT of paddy so far in the district.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Parth Gupta said, “So far, Rs 384 crore has been transferred to accounts of farmers, whose paddy has been procured by government agencies.”

According to information, the highest — 79.42 per cent paddy (36,758 MT) — was lifted from the Jagadhri grain market.

Seventy nine per cent paddy (2,268 MT) was lifted from Kharwan grain market followed by 76.29 per cent (13,648 MT) from Sadhaura grain market, 76.04 per cent (27901 MT) from Radaur grain market, 74.18 per cent (4,230 MT) from Gumthala Rao grain market, 74.10 per cent (4751 MT) from Rasulpur grain market and 72.53 per cent (1510 MT) from Jathlana grain market.

Similarly, 71.19 per cent (25,123) paddy was lifted from Chhachhrauli grain market followed by 69.79 per cent (36,969 MT) from Pratap Nagar grain market, 67.40 per cent (50,154 MT) from Saraswati Nagar grain market, 61.24 per cent (16,802 MT) from Bilaspur grain market, 60 per cent (168 MT) from Yamunanagar grain market and 55.63 per cent (10,060 MT) from Ranjeetpur grain market.

Gupta said procurement and lifting of paddy was going on smoothly in all grain markets of the district. “In the interest of farmers, the state government is continuing the smooth procurement of paddy in all grain markets if the district,” Gupta said.

He directed departments concerned to ensure that farmers did not face any inconvenience in selling their paddy crop. “The government has fixed the price of Grade-A paddy at Rs 2,389 per quintal and common grade paddy at Rs 2,369 per quintal,” said Gupta.

He appealed to farmers to bring their paddy to grain markets only after drying it so that they could get a fair price for their crop at the right time.
