70-yr-old monk arrested for murder in Gurugram
Gurugram, February 1
The Gurugram police today arrested a monk for murdering a 50-year-old woman monk in Mirzapur village on Wednesday. The suspect confessed to having slit her throat with a wood-cutting weapon following a brawl between them.
The deceased was identified as Roshni Devi.
According to the police, the accused, identified as monk Nafe (70), alias Khamai Nath, used to live with Devi. During interrogation, it was revealed that Devi and Nafe often used to have heated arguments over several issues. However, during a quarrel on Wednesday, when he tried to scare Devi with the weapon, it accidentally hit her on the neck, leading to her death.
Nafe had earlier claimed after he had gone out for some work and when he returned home, he found her critically injured. Following the incident, a police team reached the spot and found Devi in a critical condition. She was first taken to the Pataudi Civil Hospital, from where she was referred to a Gurugram hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
An FIR was registered against an unidentified person. However, during interrogation, Nafe confessed to having killed her, following which he was arrested by the police.
“We have seized the wood-cutting weapon that was used in the crime and are questioning the accused,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
