In their drive against illegal mining and illegal transportation of mining minerals in Yamunanagar district, several teams of the district administration checked 55,320 vehicles from March 6 to 31.

During this period, the teams have seized 30 vehicles and issued challans to owners of 745 vehicles, imposing a fine of Rs 2.43 crore.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta said as per the instructions of KM Pandurang, Director General, Mines and Geology Department, several teams of the district administration, including the Mines and Geology Department, were continuously taking action against illegal mining and illegal transportation of mining minerals.

He said his priority was to stop illegal mining and illegal transportation of mining minerals in the district. “Overloaded vehicles without transit passes/e-Ravana are being closely monitored,” said Gupta.

He added that the objective of this drive was to make mining activities transparent and stop the reckless exploitation of natural resources. He said as per the instructions of the Haryana Government, several teams had been formed at different levels to take action against illegal mining and illegal transportation of mining minerals.

“All SDMs, police and Mines and Geology Department officials of the district are carrying out checking of vehicles day and night,” said the Deputy Commissioner. He said one could contact the helpline number 9417250172 issued by the Haryana Government to register a complaint of illegal mining.
