Speaking to mediapersons, Nain said, “Special drives are being conducted in Ambala, Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar districts of Ambala Range and criminals are being arrested. It has been observed that some criminals sitting abroad have been luring youngsters and telling them to commit crime. They show dreams of settling them abroad and giving them lakhs of rupees, but once their task is completed, they leave them at their fate. We appeal to the youngsters not to get involved in any criminal activities and stay away from such people.”
“To control the criminal activities, technical surveillance is being upgraded. While 690 new CCTVs cameras have been installed in the three districts, 230 more cameras are being installed in Yamunanagar district. The CCTV cameras have helped in early tracing of criminals and prevention of criminal activities. Special teams were constituted in all three districts and a special campaign is also being run against the people involved in organised crimes,” he added.
Sharing the data, the IG said special teams had caught 90 persons for gambling and recovered over Rs 4.56 lakh from them, 225 people were arrested under the NDPS Act, and 224 were arrested for selling illicit liquor. As many as 78 persons were arrested for keeping illegal arms. During special drives challans were issued to nearly 31,000 persons in three months.
