78K farmers in Karnal, 95K in Kaithal get 21st instalment

As many as 78,000 farmers of Karnal district and nearly 95,000 of Kaithal district received 21st instalment of Rs 2,000 each under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme through direct benefit transfer on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the instalment from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu at a national-level programme, while Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired a state-level programme in Palwal.

Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand chaired the district-level function organised at the ICAR-NDRI, who highlighted the government’s continued commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and providing timely financial support to the farmers.

In Kaithal, Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma presided over the function and said the PM-Kisan scheme had emerged as a strong pillar for the farmers, offering them assured assistance at crucial stages of the agricultural cycle. “The PM-Kisan Nidhi scheme is one of the most significant initiatives of the Union Government and stands today as the world’s largest direct-benefit transfer scheme,” said Anand, expressing gratitude to the PM for this continued support to the farming community.

He said Union Minister for Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, along with the PM, had been formulating farmer-centric policies. “As the CM, Manohar Lal brought major administrative reforms in Haryana with a focus on development and good governance. Now, CM Nayab Singh Saini is further strengthening those policies,” he added.

He explained that the scheme was launched in 2018–19 with the objective of providing additional financial assistance to all landholding farmer families for purchasing agricultural inputs.

Earlier, NDRI Director Dr Dhir Singh said PM Modi was regularly ensuring that the farmers received timely financial assistance through the PM-Kisan scheme. Giving details, Deputy Director Agriculture (DDA), Dr Wazir Singh said 98,000 farmers in the district were registered under the scheme, and 78,000 farmers received around Rs 14 crore today under the 21st instalment.

In Kaithal, MP Sharma said 94,997 farmers of Kaithal district received the 21st instalment on Wednesday.
