8 stolen motorcycles recovered, 1 nabbed
A team of the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell has arrested a man and recovered eight stolen motorcycles from him.
The accused has been identified as Shahnawaz of Kami Mazra village in Yamunanagar district.
Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell in-charge Sumit Kumar said his team had received information that a man was on his way to Uttar Pradesh via Kalanaur village of Yamunanagar to sell a stolen motorcycle. Following this, a team was constituted to set up barricades and check vehicles on a road in Kalanaur village.
He said after a while, a man arrived on a motorcycle, trying to flee after spotting the police team. However, the police team caught him.
He said during interrogation, it was found that he was riding a stolen motorcycle.
“During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had stolen eight motorcycles from different areas of Yamunanagar in a year. All eight stolen motorcycles were recovered from him,” said in-charge Sumit Kumar.
He used to sell the stolen vehicles in Uttar Pradesh, Kumar added.
He further said the accused was produced in a Jagadhri court on Saturday, when he was sent to judicial custody.
