The 18th two-day Annual Sports Competition at Jan Nayak Choudhary Devi Lal Vidyapeeth commenced on Monday.

The event was presided over by Director General Dr Kuldip Singh Dhindsa, while kabaddi player and Bhim awardee Krishan Kumar Godara was the chief guest.

Sandeep from Jan Nayak Choudhary Devi Lal Memorial College won the 800m race for boys, while Mandir Singh stood second and Ankit from Jan Nayak Choudhary Devi Lal Memorial College secured the third place.

In the 800m race for girls, Shreya from the dental college bagged the first place, while Sakina from Jan Nayak Choudhary Devi Lal Memorial College secured the second place, and Astha from the dental college stood place.

The chief guest lauded the institution for not only excelling in academics, but also establishing a presence in sports.

He urged the students to consider a career in sports, stressing its significance beyond recreational activities.

He emphasised that the participation in sports fosters decision-making skills and enables athletes to assume multiple roles.
