Only 8,412 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat has so far arrived in grain markets of Yamunanagar district as the harvesting of wheat crop is late here due to climatic conditions.
As per the information available, out of the total 8,412 MT, as much as 3,473 MT was purchased by the Food and Supplies Department, 3,739 MT by HAFED and 1,200 MT by Haryana Warehousing Corporation.
“Wheat procurement has started in all grain markets of the district and government procurement agencies are smoothly purchasing wheat in the grain markets as per the prescribed norms at Rs 2,425 per quintal,” said Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta.
He said that in the current rabi season (till April 9), as much as 1,293 MT of wheat arrived at Bilaspur grain market of the district, 461 MT of wheat at Chhachhrauli grain market, 190 MT of wheat at Gumthala Rao grain market and 1,267 MT of wheat at Jagadhri grain market.
He added that 93 MT arrived in Kharwan grain market, 2,695 MT in Saraswati Nagar grain market, 1,030 MT in Radaur grain market, 390 MT in Ranjitpur grain market, 293 MT of wheat in Rasoolpur grain market and 700 MT arrived in Sadhaura grain market.
DC Parth Gupta has instructed the officers concerned to pay special attention to facilities like drinking water, cleanliness, toilet and electricity in the grain markets so that farmers do not face problems in selling their wheat crop.
“I have also instructed the officers to make all types of facilities available in the markets so that the commission agents associated with purchase work of wheat, labourers and farmers in the market get all the facilities,” said DC Parth Gupta.
