8K criminals nabbed in Haryana under Operation Aakarman this year

In 10 operations, 68,885 cops participated, registered 4,239 FIRs across state

To crack down on crime and criminal activities in the state, this year three times as many Operation Aakarman were launched compared to the previous year. Under this, 13,610 teams simultaneously conducted raids, sending 8,307 criminals behind bars. During this time, Haryana Police also challaned 23,387 vehicles for violating lane driving.

DGP Shatrujeet Kapur said under Operation Aakarman, the police conducted raids on criminals simultaneously with multiple teams in a planned manner. He said the Haryana Police had conducted 16 Operation Aakarman so far. In 2022 and 2023, a total of six operations were conducted, while this year the figure was 10. He said in 2022 and 2023, as many as 2,644 and 3,533 accused were nabbed, respectively, under Operation Aakarman. This year 10 Operation Aakarman were conducted, under which 4,239 FIRs were registered in the state and 8,307 criminals were arrested. A total of 68,885 police personnel participated in these 10 operations.

Kapur said during Operation Aakarman in 2024, a total of 272 FIRs were registered under the Arms Act, 168 pistols were recovered, and 112 people were arrested. Similarly, 745 kg and 452 grams of ganja, 3 kg of heroin, and 337 kg and 25 grams of smack were recovered. In these cases, a total of 877 FIRs were registered under the NDPS Act across the state and 441 accused were arrested.

He said during the campaign, in 2024, the teams tightened the noose around notorious criminals and nabbed a total of 44 most-wanted rewarded criminals, while the figure was eight last year. Also, the police succeeded in catching 42 cybercriminals, 697 proclaimed offenders and 708 bail jumpers. These arrested criminals were wanted in many cases and were absconding to avoid arrest. In addition, many thousands of vehicles were also challaned under the Motor Vehicles Act.

During the special campaign, the police succeeded in cracking down on liquor smugglers by registering 2,443 FIRs under the Excise Act, seizing 20,461.5 bottles of English liquor, 40,828.5 bottles of country made liquor, 4,658 bottles of beer, and 31,490 liters of lahan. Also, 1,105 people were arrested in the state under the Excise Act. The police also recovered more than Rs 26 lakh in cash from 441 accused arrested under the Gambling Act.
