The police have registered a case against nine persons for allegedly duping three persons of Rs 32 lakh on the promise of sending them to Canada.
On the complaint of Vikas Sharma of Gandhi Dham in Jagadhri, a case was registered against nine persons — Sandeep, Komal Sharma, Sandeep Kumar, Mohammad Hadil, Vikas Sharma, Ravish Kumar, Gurpreet, Snehlata Walia and Rashi Walia — all residents of Bootgarh village in Yamunanagar district.
The case was registered at the Jagadhri city police station. The complainant said he had a telephonic call with Sandeep, who was in Dubai, in December 2023 regarding going abroad.
He said Sandeep told him that he would send him to Canada on a work visa. Later, he also promised Canada work visa for his friends Malkeet Singh of Laharpur village in Yamunanagar and Jatinder Sharma of Rajpura in Punjab.
“The accused took Rs 32 lakh from us to send us to Canada,” the complainant told the police. He said the accused sent them to Dubai and later to Azerbaijan. “From there, they sent us back and didn’t send us to Canada. Now, they are refusing to return our money,” alleged the complainant.
