The two-day state-level sports inter-PM Shri school sports competition began at the Karna Stadium on Monday.
As many as 968 students from 241 PM Shri schools across the state participated in the contest.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Yash Jaluka, as the chief guest, inaugurated the sports meet.
Jaluka emphasised the significance of sports in a student’s life, stating that sports contributed to the physical, mental and intellectual development of students.
He highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance sports facilities in schools and promote a culture of sports activities. Addressing the participants, he exhorted them to compete with a spirit of sportsmanship.
District Education Officer (DEO) Sudesh Thukral and District Project Coordinator (DPC) Jyotsna Mishra along with other officials motivated the participants of the event.
The event features four categories —classes VI-VIII (boys and girls); and classes IX-XII (boys and girls).
Students are competing in eight sports disciplines, including long jump, shot put, discus throw, high jump, 400-m race, 100-m race, 200-m race and relay race.
In the shot put category (class IX-XII boys), Nikhil Kumar from Hisar stood first, followed by Anirudh from Palwal and Himanshu from Sonepat in the second and third place, respectively.
Similarly, in the shot put (class IX-XII girls) category, Sakshi from Bhiwani won the gold, Pramakshi of Rewari bagged the silver and Swati of Fatehabad the bronze.
In the long jump (class IX-XII girls) category, Raunak of Bhiwani claimed the first position, while Pooja of Sirsa secured the second and Divya of Jind the third.
In the long jump (class VI-VII boys) category, Sachin of Sirsa won the gold, Gurpreet of Ambala the silver and Jaman of Rohtak bagged the bronze prize.
In the high jump (class VI-VII boys) category, Sanju of Fatehabad bagged the first prize, Jitendra of Gurugram the second and Sagar of Sirsa the third.
Similarly, in the 400-m (class VI-VII girls) race, Kafi of Hisar secured the first place, followed by Rashmi of Bhiwani and Shashi of Jind in the second and third places, respecively.
In the in the 400-m (class VI-VII boys) race, Vansh of Jind won the gold, Naseeb of Hisar the silver, and Lokesh of Kurukshetra the bronze.
