97% kids vaccinated in Nuh, Palwal, says NHM

To ensure immunisation to every child covered under the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 2.0, two districts in Haryana, Nuh and Palwal have achieved more than 97 per cent coverage.
Amneet P Kumar, Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), Haryana, said the two districts were included in the IMI 2.0 in the state and in the first month itself, more than 97 per cent children were vaccinated against the set target.
She said in Palwal district, 6,158 children in the age group 0-2 years were vaccinated against the target of 6,190 children (99.48 per cent), and 1,424 pregnant women were vaccinated against the target of 1,150 (123 per cent).
She further informed that 579 sessions were organised against 426 planned sessions. In Nuh district (Mewat), 23,498 children in the age group 0-2 years were vaccinated against the target of 23,676 (99.25 per cent), and 5,122 pregnant women were vaccinated against the target of 5,264 (97.3 per cent). A total of 1,214 sessions were organised against 1,166 planned sessions.
She said IMI 2.0 would be conducted from December 2019 to March 2020. The drive would be spread over seven working days, excluding public holidays, Sundays and the routine immunisation days planned in that week.
She said the series of activities were undertaken at the state level, line departments were taken into loop for coordinated activities for social mobilisation at all levels (district, block and village), preparations were monitored and reviewed regularly.
Amneet said the Deputy Commissioners of Palwal and Nuh districts took personal interest and extended their support to achieve the targets. Several community meetings were organised by SDMs of respective blocks, civil surgeons, SMOs, religious leaders, community leaders, medical officers in- charge. Collective efforts were made by the departments concerned at all levels.
Meanwhile, Mission Indradhanush (MI) was launched by the government on December 25, 2014 to vaccinate the unvaccinated, partially vaccinated children and pregnant women by 2020 under the Universal Immunisation Programme. The previous IMI was carried out in December 2018.
