After completing their basic training, 988 police constables of the 90th batch successfully passed out from the Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, on Sunday. During the course of their nine-month training, they were trained to use weapons and explosives, taught laws etc.

At the passing out parade, Director-General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur took the salute as the chief guest and exhorted new recruits to uphold principles of justice. He asked them to treat citizens with empathy and compassion, as the police are the face of law and order in society. “Joining the police force is not just a profession, but a call to serve people with honesty, courage and compassion. The path chosen by you requires sacrifice and dedication as people have high expectations from you,” the DGP added.Highlighting the challenges in their future, the DGP said every day they would face challenges which would test their character. “Your good work and courageous decisions will strengthen the trust of the public in the Haryana Police,” he said, appealing to them to maintain principles of justice, impartiality and human dignity in accordance with the oath of induction.

The DGP also highlighted the steps taken by the headquarters to upgrade the police and ensure their welfare.

“To make skilled trainers available for police training, the government has approved an instructional allowance of 20 per cent of the basic salary for the instructors appointed at all training centres of the Haryana Police,” said the DGP.

He expressed his gratitude to the state government for increasing the uniform allowance, ration allowance, tripling the ex-gratia amount given to families of the martyrs, providing financial assistance to dependent women, providing jobs to 281 dependents under ex-gratia since 2019, providing mobile allowance to police personnel and increasing the monthly travel allowance from 10 to 20 days. Kapur also highlighted that steps were being taken for the welfare of police personnel and their families. “The children of retired and Group-D employees are being provided with facilities to hone their skills, which will prove useful for them when they are being employed. Twentytwo police public schools are being run successfully in collaboration with DAV institutions at the district headquarters across the state. e-Libraries, gyms have been opened in every police line. The gyms will help in keeping the police personnel fit and free health check-ups have been started for those above 35 years of age,” he added.

The DGP also praised the Director of the Academy, Dr CS Rao, other officers and staff for imparting good training. He honoured constables Ashish, Aman, and Rohit for holding first, second and third-position during training.

Rao welcomed the chief guest and others present there. He said out of 988 constables, 896 were trained at the HPA, Madhuban, and 92 at Recruit Training Centre, Newal. Among these 988, 207 are postgraduates, 32 are professional postgraduates, 552 are graduates, 125 are professional graduates, and 72 are Clss XII pass.
