A first, Rohtak district to have Red Cross Service Centres in every village
Deputy Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata has announced that Red Cross Service Centres would be established in every village of the district with the help of volunteers. He said Rohtak would be the first district in the state to have such centres in every village.
After the centres are set up, initiatives such as disability-screening camps, assistance for people with disabilities and first-aid home training for youngsters above 18 years of age would be hosted in each village, he added.
The DC said the goal of the Red Cross Committee and the district administration was to ensure that no person with a disability, elderly individual or youngster needed to go to cities for any Red Cross-related services.
Volunteers would be appointed in each village to serve selflessly.
“With the establishment of the service centres at the village level, young people above 18 years of age will be able to receive first-aid home nursing training right at their villages. Additionally, the registration of individuals with disabilities who require equipment will also be done at the village level,” said Khadgata.
Each village will have 11 youth members at the centre, who would regularly promote Red Cross activities register and people, he added.
The list will then be shared with the Red Cross Committee. “Blood donor registration will also take place at the centres, and blood camps will be organised at the village level. Other activities, such as disability screening camps, health camps, eye check-ups and first aid home nursing training, will be initiated at the villages,” he added.
Khadgata encouraged youngsters and panchayats interested in supporting the initiative to contact the Red Cross Society. The DC said youngsters who provided services selflessly would be honoured periodically by the district administration and the Red Cross for their contributions.
