Ahead of the scheduled programme of PM Narendra Modi in Hisar on April 14, the trial run of flights at the airport in Hisar is expected to start tomorrow. A team of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has arrived at the airport to make final preparations, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Wildlife Department has launched a drive to capture the nilgai from near the airport complex as there are 10 to 15 nilgai near the airport site.

The Wildlife and Forest Department is working to remove them following safety concerns.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a licence, starting the flights from the airport. A schedule for operations is likely to be finalised before the PM's visit on April 14, the sources said.

The Haryana Government has already signed an MoU with Alliance Air Aviation Limited in this regard. According to information, officials from the Aviation Company have arrived to inspect the site. A dedicated office with four rooms has been set up for the airline, separate from the main entrance. Hisar is likely to be linked to some towns, including Ayodhya, Jammu, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Ahmedabad with air connectivity, the sources added.

The AAI will oversee and control the operations. Security is also set to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who will replace the Haryana Police.

The then CM, Manohar Lal Khattar, inaugurated the work at the airport on August 15, 2018, after the BJP government announced to develop it soon after coming to power in 2014. In 2019, the airport was included in the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN). Though some flights started, they were discontinued shortly due to poor viability.

In June 2024, CM Nayab Singh Saini had inaugurated the 10,000-ft runway and other airport facilities.
