AAP fields Brahmin face from Karnal, Sikh from Assandh
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared three out of five seats so far, expressing faith over Brahmin face Jaipal Sharma at the Gharaunda Assembly segment for the upcoming Assembly elections, Sikh face Amandeep Singh and Hawa Singh from Indri, belonging to the Ror community. The party has held the seats of Karnal and Nilokheri.
It is Jaipal Sharma’s third election. Sharma had narrowly lost the seat in 2005 by a mere 21 votes while contesting as an Independent candidate and had later joined the BJP. He remained unsuccessful in 2009 on the BJP ticket.
Sharma said he would contest the election with full spirit and enthusiasm. “My supporters and party workers are full of enthusiasm,” said Sharma.
It is Amandeep’s first election, who is also confident about his victory as the Assandh Assembly segment has a sizeable number.
Hawa Singh is contesting his second election. Earlier, he had contested election from the same seat of Indri in 2019 on the ticket of BSP, but failed to win the seat.
Balwinder Singh, district president of AAP, claimed that they would win all seats in the district. “Our party workers are working on ground with dedication. We will win all the seats,” he added.
