Chandigarh, July 18
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today announced its decision to contest all 90 seats in the Assembly elections in Haryana and launched its poll slogan, ‘Badlenge Haryana Ka Haal, Lekar Aayenge Kejriwal,’ featuring Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s face.
CM Mann skirts SYL issue
On the Sutlej-Yamuna Link between Punjab and Haryana, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said, “It is a subjudice matter. I cannot comment on it.” On NHAI projects, CM Mann said there were issues with land acquisition and that they would hold meetings with stakeholders.
In a press conference addressed by Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, and national general secretary organisation Dr Sandeep Pathak, the party highlighted Kejriwal’s roots in Haryana and projected the success of the Delhi model.
On July 20, the party will launch Kejriwal’s guarantees, followed by the appointment of district-level presidents. “We (AAP) have been officially recognised as a national party. We have MLAs in Gujarat and Goa, governments in Delhi and Punjab, and mayors in Chandigarh and Singoli. We will fight the Haryana Assembly polls with full force. Half of Haryana touches Punjab and the other half touches Delhi. The state has given a chance to every party, and whoever has had a chance to rule has looted it,” said Mann. He added that he would campaign in Haryana, noting that half of the state’s population speaks Punjabi.
Sanjay Singh criticised the double-engine government in Haryana over the past decade, questioning its achievements. “Haryana has become a stronghold of extortion gangs. Farmers were lathicharged during protests. Unemployment is the state’s biggest problem.” He condemned the Agnipath scheme as an insult to the Army and martyrs from the state, expressing AAP’s commitment to addressing these issues.
Pathak said: “AAP has conducted ‘Parivartan Jansamvad’ in 6,500 villages across the state. The overwhelming sentiment from these meetings is the need for change. This time, the people of Haryana are looking towards their son Arvind Kejriwal with hope.”
