The rumour about the abduction of a farmer at the Khanauri border today forced the Haryana Police to post a message on ‘X’ to clear the situation.
Describing it as fake news, the police said the youngman, identified as Preet Singh of Nawangaon in Sangrur district (Punjab), was admitted to the PGIMS, Rohtak, for treatment and he was out of danger.
Sources said the man suffered injuries at the border during the protest. Later, he was taken to the trauma centre by the police.
Senior doctors at the PGIMS rushed to the trauma centre on getting the information that an injured protesting farmer from Punjab has been brought here for treatment. Later, PGIMS Director Dr Shamsher Singh Lohchab also visited the patient.
Dr Lohchab said the patient was responding well. “He is being treated by a team of doctors and his family members are also with him. I have also talked to them,” the Director added. Meanwhile, Inderjit Singh, a senior leader of the SKM, has decried the police “action” against protesting farmers at Khanauri and Shambu borders. “Resentment prevails among the farmers across Haryana following police action. The SKM will discuss the prevailing situation at a meeting of its national coordination committee in Chandigarh on Thursday and will decide the further course of action,” Singh added.
