Citing specific incidents, Chautala referred to the murder of former INLD MLA Nafe Singh Rathee, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in February 2024. He pointed out that even months after the incident, the culprits remained at large.
He also highlighted the Manisha murder case in Bhiwani, calling the police investigation botched and irresponsible and described both cases as glaring examples of the government’s failure to maintain law and order.
The INLD president was addressing a public gathering in Bahadurgarh town here on Wednesday. He extended an invitation to people of Bahadurgarh and across Haryana to participate in the upcoming ‘Samman Diwas’ rally to be held in Rohtak on September 25. The event will commemorate the birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Devi Lal.
“The rally will be one of the largest in the country’s history, with lakhs of supporters expected to gather to pay tribute to Devi Lal. He claimed that leaders from both India and abroad will participate in the event,” he added.
Chautala emphasised that there was overwhelming enthusiasm among party workers regarding the rally. He said he was visiting all 90 Assembly constituencies in the state to mobilise support and encourage participation in the mega event. Remembering Devi Lal’s contributions, he said the late leader initiated old-age pension schemes, raised farmers’ issues and introduced pro-farmer policies during his political tenure.
Taking a dig at the BJP government, Chautala accused it of neglecting public welfare. He also slammed the Congress party for “failing” to play the role of an effective opposition and indirectly helping the BJP by excluding key parties from the INDIA alliance.
INLD state president Rampal Majra, Sheela Nafe Singh Rathi, Kapoor Singh Rathi, and Youth INLD’s state general secretary Jitendra Nafe Singh Rathi, also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
