ABVP pushes for comprehensive reforms in NTA
New Delhi, July 25
To enhance the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and its examinations, a delegation from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) presented a detailed letter of suggestions to K Radhakrishnan, Chairman of the high-level committee overseeing the NTA reforms. The delegation emphasised the urgent need for administrative reforms, enhanced transparency, and advanced infrastructure development within the NTA.
“Over the past two weeks, the ABVP has consulted students from diverse disciplines, such as humanities, medical sciences, engineering, and others, and compiled 42 suggestions for reforming the NTA,” said Yagywalkya Shukla, the national general secretary of the ABVP. “These suggestions have now been submitted to the high-level committee overseeing the reforms. It is crucial to promptly resolve the problems plaguing the NTA to restore trust in its examination processes. We hope that the committee will take decisive action based on ABVP’s recommendations.”
Among the key suggestions, ABVP proposed the adoption of a two-phase NEET-UG examination format similar to JEE, the establishment of government institutions as exam centres and the uploading of OMR sheets on the NTA website. The letter also highlighted the need for adequate staffing of permanent employees at the NTA and the development of advanced infrastructure for conducting exams.
