Accused in murder case arrested after eight months

The Sector 27 crime unit has arrested a wanted murder suspect, who was on the run for the past eight month, on Saturday night. Commissioner of Police (CP) KK Rao had recently announced a reward of Rs 5,000 on his arrest. The accused was identified as Navinder, alias Golu, a resident of Bazidpur Saboli village in Sonepat district.

A Sonepat police spokesperson said Harish, a resident of Bazidpur Saboli village, in his complaint to the Kundli police on April 21 last year alleged that he, along with his uncle Amarjeet, alias Monu, who was a transporter, were on way to a hotel for dinner. Meanwhile, some people, who were sitting in a car, stopped them. Navinder, alias Golu, a resident of their village also had a transport business, he said. Golu threatened his uncle Amarjeet due to some professional tussle. As they turned, Golu asked his associate, who was also sitting in the car, to shoot his uncle.

Golu’s accomplice fired three bullets on them during which his uncle sustained bullet injuries. Amarjeet was immediately rushed to a hospital where doctor declared him brought dead. The Kundli police registered a case and began a probe into the matter.

An investigation team had already arrested six accused —– identified as Mukesh, Rahul, Surender, Rohit, Ritesh, alias Hitesh and Ashish, alias Bali, in this connection, but Navinder, alias Golu, was on the run after the incident.

KK Rao, Commissioner of Police, announced a reward of Rs 5,000 on his arrest on January 13. The crime unit arrested seventh accused Golu on Saturday and produced him in a court on Sunday. The court sent him to judicial custody.
