The Hansi police have booked actress Yuvika Chaudhary on the charges of derogatory and objectionable remarks about the Scheduled Caste (SC) community.
An advocate and activist Rajat Kalsan has lodged the complaint against the actress on the basis of her remarks in a video which went viral on social media.
The complaint was lodged with the Hansi Superintendent of Police Nikita Ahlawat on May 26. The video of Chaudhary in which allegedly used a casteist slur went viral on social media on May 25, sparking an uproar.
A former contestant in the “Bigg Boss” programme, Chaudhary later issued an apology on her Twitter handle, stating that she did not know the meaning of the said word. The Hansi police said they lodged the FIR after a formal inquiry by the cyber cell about the video.
Recently, another actress Munmun Dutta had also been booked in Hansi on the complaint of Kalsan who alleged that Dutta had used casteist slurs in her video. Another Hisar-based advocate also lodged a complaint with the Hisar police against actor Randeep Hooda after a nine-year-old video surfaced in which he is heard cracking a joke naming Mayawati.
