Actress Uvika Chaudhary today approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court for quashing an FIR registered against her for allegedly using derogatory and objectionable words against a community during the making of a video in May. Justice Amol Rattan Singh fixed October 25 as the next date of hearing in the matter.

The FIR in the matter was registered on May 28 under the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities Act) at Hansi City police station. Directions were also sought for quashing all consequential proceedings.

Chaudhary, through counsel Ruchi Sekhri and Puneet Bhandari, contended the FIR against her was glaring example of misuse of process of law. Even if the allegations were taken on its face value, offence under SC/ST Act was not made out. The complainant in the matter was represented by advocate Arjun Sheoran.
