The Congress MLA from Adampur Assembly constituency, Chander Prakash, alleged neglect of the Mandi Adampur town and nearby villages and demanded special funds and expeditious completion of the ongoing projects in the segment.
The MLA who defeated BJP’s Bhavya Bishnoi to register the first ever win over the Bhajan Lal family member in their stronghold since 1972 held a meeting with the public and also heard their grievances in the meeting.
Later, Chander Prakash, who is a retired IAS, visited Sadalpur village to inspect the water tank as there had been some complaints of regarding water supply. After visiting the water works, he informed the Chief Engineer over the phone and asked for proper cleaning of the tank. The MLA said that villagers are forced to drink contaminated water and thus, immediate remedial action was necessary.
In Mandi Adampur, people raised the issue delays in road and sewer construction. Residents said that due to the department’s delay in the reconstruction of damaged roads and the construction of new ones, the katcha roads had become a major inconvenience as dust was proving problematic to the asthma patients. They said that the region has been suffering for years due to dilapidated roads, poor sewer systems and contaminated drinking water. Not only this, there is no proper electricity supply either. Along with this, health services are also in a poor state.
The residents submitted a memorandum to the MLA stating that for the past three years, various areas of Adampur have been dug up in the name of development works, but all projects remain incomplete. Due to the poor administrative system, many people from different areas of Mandi Adampur have started migrating elsewhere, and several prominent traders are also considering relocating their businesses.
The MLA, however, raised the issues with the officials concerned and asked them to take appropriate action on the specific problems. He said that during the Assembly session, he had raised issues related to Adampur’s roads, sewer system, drinking water, electricity, health services, and irrigation water, and had presented the status report with data before the Chief Minister and the Speaker.
“Despite this, negligence continues in the execution of development works in Adampur. The government should take cognisance and issue strict orders to the departments concerned regarding construction works. The long-pending development works should be completed at a fast pace to provide relief to the people,” he said.
The MLA demanded that clean drinking water, adequate electricity supply and sufficient irrigation water for farmers be ensured without delay in all villages, including Mandi Adampur, Adampur line-par area, Adampur village, Sadalpur, Balsamand, Siswal and Kalirawan.
