Chairing a meeting with election officials at the Mini-Secretariat on Thursday, Jaluka emphasised that any violation of the model code should be reported immediately to the RO.

He instructed all ROs to complete necessary preparations for the nomination process well in advance. Candidates can file their nominations from February 11 to 17, between 11 am and 3 pm. However, the nominations will not be accepted on February 12 and February 16, which are designated holidays. The municipal elections will take place on March 2, with counting of votes scheduled for March 12.

Jaluka said the district administration had made all necessary arrangements to conduct the elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner. Senior officials were designated as nodal officers for different tasks to ensure seamless coordination. He urged all nodal officers to carry out their duties responsibly, as municipal elections were sensitive and even minor issues could escalate.

He instructed the officials to remain impartial and avoid any favouritism towards the candidates or political parties. Jaluka clarified that ongoing development projects might continue, but no new projects could be initiated during the election process.

The Returning Officers were also directed to ensure immediate removal of government advertisements, hoardings and posters related to state policies from their respective areas.
