Many people reach Kurukshetra to visit shrines and meet their gurus.

The administration has got video messages from preachers, including Swami Gyananand, the head of Kurukshetra-based GIEO Gita, Satpal Sharma, ‘peethadhyaksh’ of Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth, Gurpal Singh, granthi of Gurdwara Chatti Patshahi, and Roshan Puri of famous Sthaneshwar Mahadev Temple, and is circulating them on social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook.

In their messages, gurus and preachers can be seen asking people to wear masks, maintain social distancing, avoid going out, use sanitisers, make children aware of Covid-appropriate behaviour, cooperate with the frontline workers and follow the guidelines issued by the government.

Sharandeep Kaur, Deputy Commissioner, Kuruksehtra, said, “There has been an increase in Covid cases, still people are not following the guidelines. Many people come to Kurukshetra for religious purposes, so we have roped in gurus, saints and preachers to motivate the people. They can play an important role in allaying the fear of people.”
