“Every citizen must read the Gita to help him/her understand its essence and importance. The way of leading a happy life by fighting all kinds of pains, sorrows and adversities is contained in the Gita,” said Prof BR Kamboj, Vice Chancellor (V-C) of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, while addressing the function organised as the chief guest on the second day of the International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav being organised at the old Government College ground in Hisar today.

The V-C visited the exhibition stalls put up by various departments and institutions during the Mahotsav. He said the Gita gives strength to us. “If we leave the worry of the result and put our complete dedication only on the work, no power in the world can stop us from achieving our goal,” he said, quoting the Gita.

Public relations official Rohit Kumar said on the third day of Gita Jayanti celebrations, a procession would be taken out in the town on Wednesday. Additional Deputy Commissioner C Jayashradha would flag off the procession, he said, adding that information about the schemes being implemented through various government departments would also be provided in the procession. “During the three-day Gita Jayanti Mahotsav, being organised by the Department of Information, Public Relations and Languages and the District Administration, information about the schemes being implemented through various departments and institutions was being provided to the visitors, besides promoting and propagating the Gita.

On the second day of the Mahotsav, folk artistes from the Department of Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture enthralled the audience by presenting an item ‘Vande Mataram’, Haryana Vandana, bhajans, Gita bhajans and other cultural programmes. Folk artistes and students presented many programmes related to Haryanvi culture.
