A factory manufacturing adulterated salt and packaging it in name of a popular brand has been busted in Nuh district’s Punhana, the police said on Thursday. An employee of the factory was also arrested.
About 5 quintals of adulterated salt, 1,000 empty sacks with the logo of the brand and 8,500 empty packets and a packing machine were recovered during the raid on Wednesday, a police officer said, adding that an FIR was registered at Punhana police station.
The raid was conducted after Amit, a field officer of Chandigarh-based Speed Search Security Network Private Limited, filed a complaint with the police on Wednesday stating that a factory has been making and selling fake salt in brand name of his client.
Following the complaint, the police raided M/s Mayank Traders and some grocery shops located on Jamalgarh Road.
“A fake salt manufacturing factory selling product in the name of Tata Salt has been busted and a case has been registered. One of the factory employees has been arrested, while efforts are being made to arrest factory owner Prem Chand,” said inspector Arvind Kumar, SHO of Punhana police station.
