The Anganwadi worker had been absconding since the Delhi blast. Afsana’s family is also under investigation; officials confirmed that she was taken into police custody.
Investigators also questioned seven other persons in Nuh to trace Umar’s connections, as he had used multiple mobile phones while staying in the rented room.

According to sources, Afsana is a resident of Golpuri village and the mother of a minor daughter. She manages her father’s house in Nuh’s Hidayat Colony, where she rented a room to Dr Umar Nabi of Al‑Falah University on the recommendation of her relative Shoaib, an electrician at the university.
Afsana’s family said that on October 28, Shoaib called his sister‑in‑law and said, “I have a guest who will stay for a few days; please keep a room ready.”
No one arrived for two or three days, so on October 31 Shoaib brought Dr Umar personally in an i‑20 car, stating they would stay for a few days.
Investigation revealed that Dr Umar confined himself to the room for 10 days. He did not leave the room even to use the toilet, littered the space, did not change clothes or bathe, and only went out to eat after dark.
“Our guest wouldn’t leave his room. He only went out at night. He had two mobile phones. After dark, he would go to roadside shops to eat. For 10 days, he wore the same clothes and didn’t speak to anyone. He left in his i20 car without informing anyone around 11 pm on November 9. The next day, on November 10, Dr Umar blew himself up along with the explosive-laden car in Delhi,” a family member of Afsana said on condition of anonymity.
Reliable sources added that investigators also questioned seven other individuals who were reportedly in contact with Dr Umar. Their mobile data and call‑detail records were reviewed.
It is also reported that Dr Umar recorded a 1‑minute‑20‑second video in his room before fleeing the university on October 30. The video, which went viral on Tuesday, shows a strong command of English, but investigators suspect it may be AI‑generated.
