The boy drowned on Wednesday evening allegedly due to the negligence of the lifeguards who did not try to save his life.

The local police arrested two lifeguards Durg (30) and Aakash (21) and registered a case under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Sector 10A police station against them and the management of the housing society. However, the members of the management were not arrested by the cops.

In today’s protest, the residents accused the lifeguard and the maintenance agency of gross negligence demanding to fix their accountability and take legal action against them.

Hemant Kumar Pal, the vice president of Residents Welfare Association, alleged that the lifeguards failed to notice the boy moving to the deeper pool as they were busy on their mobile phones.

The residents of the society also carried out a candle march last night to express their grief and solidarity with deceased’s family.
