The All India Congress Committee general secretary and MP from Sirsa, Kumari Selja, urged party workers to put in their best efforts to ensure the victory of Krishna Singla, the Congress candidate, contesting for the Hisar Mayor post, along with other party candidates in the fray for the various wards in the Urban Local Body polls.

She was addressing the Congress workers at her residence on Monday. Other party leaders, including former chairman Bhupender Gangwa, senior Congress leader Lal Bahadur Khowal, senior spokesperson Ashwini Sharma, Satender Singh, and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.

Selja assigned responsibilities to various leaders and party workers for different areas in the town. Claiming that the Congress Party was in a strong position in the municipal elections, she expressed confidence in the victory of the Congress candidates in the ULB polls. She emphasised that on winning the municipal elections, the Congress elected mayors and office-bearers would work for the welfare of the people.

Notably, Singla has also got the backing of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda during his visit to Hisar last week. Hooda had alleged that BJP failed to do even a single development work in Hisar during its 10-year tenure. He had said that the Congress would take up the collapse of civic services and law and order in the state as primary issues in the ensuing elections while making an appeal for votes for the Congress candidates in the civic elections.
