Following a major rally led by former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda in support of Congress candidate Gokul Setia on Sunday, HLP leader Gopal Kanda made a move by taking to the streets of Sirsa with his supporters on Monday. Accompanied by BJP leader Rohtash Jangra, the Kanda brothers marched through the city’s bustling markets, making their presence felt.

Rohtash Jangra, who had previously withdrawn his candidacy in favour of Kanda, was spotted actively campaigning alongside him after Kanda personally reached out for his support. This partnership marked a significant show of unity of Kanda and the BJP, especially after a directive from Biplab Deb, former Tripura Chief Minister and BJP’s election co-incharge, encouraged party members to focus on defeating the Congress on Sunday.

As part of their campaign, Gopal and Gobind Kanda visited numerous shops, directly appealing to local traders and business owners for their votes. The Kandas received enthusiastic welcomes, with many merchants joining their efforts. Gopal expressed heartfelt gratitude, referring to the people of Sirsa as his family. He stressed his commitment to advocating for their rights and assured them he has never exploited politics for personal gain.

Kanda also highlighted his previous election success, noting that he won in 2019 with community support and provided unwavering backing to the BJP government for five years. He asserted that he successfully secured funds for Sirsa’s development and is fully aware of the community’s challenges, promising to work tirelessly on their behalf.

The race for Sirsa is shaping up to be highly competitive, with Gokul Setia determined to turn the tide after losing by a narrow margin of just 602 votes in the last election. Setia is confident of winning by a larger margin this time.
