Gurugram, August 5
A 24-year-old man allegedly killed his wife by strangling her, and after committing the murder, he ended his own life by hanging himself in a slum area of I Block in Sector 50. The police believe it was a result of domestic disputes. An FIR was registered at the Sector 50 police station.
According to the police, the deceased were identified as Prajapati Das and his wife Shivali Das (19), both natives of West Bengal. Prajapati worked as a labourer and lived with his wife in a slum in I Block in Sector 50. They had been married for around seven months.
A senior police officer said, based on initial investigations, the incident occurred around 1.30 pm on Sunday. During an argument, Das allegedly strangled his wife with a cloth and later died by suicide.
According to the complaint filed by Shivali’s father, he had gone to work in the morning, but when he returned in the afternoon, he noticed that his daughter had not prepared food. He went to his daughter’s slum, where the door was locked from the inside.
“When I peeped inside, I saw that my son-in-law was hanging, and my daughter was lying on the floor. With the help of the neighbours, I rushed them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared both of them dead. My son-in-law strangled my daughter to death and then killed himself,” said the father. — OC
