Taking cognisance of the abandonment of a 14-year-old injured boy from Bihar by his employer, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) member Ganesh Kumar visited the boy at the Rohtak PGIMS today.

"Counselling of the boy is going on. We will ask the police to register an FIR and take action against the employer," Kumar told 'The Tribune'.

The boy, who was working as a bonded labourer at a dairy unit, was allegedly abandoned by his employer after his hand got accidentally severed while using a fodder-chopping equipment. However, instead of taking the boy to a hospital, his employer allegedly blindfolded him and abandoned him at a deserted place, several kilometres from the dairy.

The boy, who was wandering on roads seeking help, was taken to the police in Nuh district by a teacher.

The Nuh police contacted the police at the boy's native place in Bihar and informed his parents. The boy's elder brother rushed to Nuh and brought the boy to the PGIMS for treatment.

Two months ago, the boy travelled to Kaithal, where his parents worked in agricultural fields for paddy transplantation. He got off the train at Bahadurgarh station and missed the train for onward journey. While he was roaming around the railway station, he was approached by a man who offered him work on a monthly salary.

The boy, who was held captive at the dairy, claimed that he used to be beaten up by his employer and made to do physical labour for long hours, often without food.

District Child Protection Officer Kuldeep Singh said the boy had undergone counselling and was recovering from the trauma.
