High drama gripped Gurugram today as hundreds of youths blocked the traffic for seven hours in Bilaspur to protest against the ‘Agnipath’ scheme.

The protest started in Rewari and spread to Sidhrawali and Bilaspur.

The Gurugram traffic police made three diversions, opening traffic towards Pataudi, but the major congestion was witnessed on the roads heading to Delhi and Jaipur.

The congestion also spread to and internal roads. The situation remained under control in the city, but the Palwal police are on high alert.

NH-48 was blocked at Bilaspur Chowk at 10 am and was opened at 4 pm.

Congress leader Capt Ajay Yadav said the scheme was aimed to demean the spirit of the armed forces and cut down the benefits being given to Army personnel.
