Agniveers killed in combat to get Rs 1-cr compensation
The Cabinet today accorded approval to the provision of an ex-gratia grant of Rs 1 crore to the families of battle casualties among Agniveers and a grant of one-time cash award for gallantry or distinguished award winners.
The state government provides an ex-gratia grant of Rs 1 crore to the families of battle casualties of defence and paramilitary forces, and has now decided to extend the same benefit to the Agniveers.
A total of 1,830 Agniveers were selected from Haryana in 2022–23, 2,215 in 2023-24, and 2,108 in 2024-25. The first batch of Agniveers is scheduled to be relieved from the defence forces in 2026-27.
The Haryana Government today also decided to increase the reservation quota for the Agniveers in police recruitment from 10 per cent to 20 per cent.
A financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh and a government job to an eligible family member of Lt Vinay Narwal has also been approved. Lt Narwal was killed in a terrorist attack at Pahalgam on April 22.
The Cabinet meeting also approved the allotment of a 200-sq yard plot at Atali village in Faridabad to Geeta, the wife of Naik Sandeep who was martyred on February 19, 2019, during an anti-terrorist operation in Pulwama.
AI Development Project
The government also approved the Haryana AI Development Project (HAIDP) for 2025-2028, with a total outlay of Rs 474.39 crore, and the constitution of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the implementation of externally aided projects. The project is proposed for implementation over a period of three years (2025-2028) with technical and financial support from the World Bank. The key components include the establishment of critical infrastructure, such as the Global Artificial Intelligence Centre (GAIC), Gurugram, and the Haryana Advanced Computing Facility (HACF) in Panchkula.
The Cabinet accorded approval to remit the whole of the stamp duty chargeable on land for a new cowshed in the state.
British-era municipal code
It also approved the repeal of the existing British-Era Municipal Account Code, 1930, and the notification of the Haryana Municipal Account Code, 2025, for implementation across all municipalities to bring in transparency in the accounting system.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to amend the policy for fixation of market rate of land in the state for all departments, boards and corporations, panchayati raj institutions and urban local bodies. The amendment to the policy would make the payment equal to what government entities pay to landowners on the acquisition of land under the Central Act.
Kalakar Samman Yojana
The government has decided to implement a new scheme titled 'Pandit Lakhmi Chand Kalakar Samajik Samman Yojana'. Under the scheme, if the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) reflects an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh from all sources, the applicant will receive Rs 10,000 per month. For those with an annual income between Rs 1.80 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, a monthly honorarium of Rs 7,000 will be provided.
