Minister Shyam Singh Rana said, “The first duty of the government is that the farmer should not feel alone in this hour of crisis. Chief Minister Nayab Saini himself is sensitive towards the situation of farmers in the state. He has instructed officials that there should be no laxity in the relief work. The entire machinery of the state government is standing with farmers.”

The Agriculture Minister also informed farmers about the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme of the Central Government. He said that by taking advantage of such schemes, farmers could reduce risk of natural disasters in the future. During minister’s visit, farmers raised their problems with him, which included demands for increasing the scope of crop insurance, transparency in relief amount and assistance for rehabilitation at the local level.
