Days before the proposed Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh, Faridabad-based cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi and others have alleged getting threat calls.

Bajrangi has approached the police. In the FIR, Bajrangi has alleged that he has been getting death threats and extortion calls from an unidentified caller who has asked him to stay away from Nuh or he will be killed. He has also allegedly been asked to pay Rs 1 lakh to ensure his own safety.

According to Bajrangi, he has been getting such calls ever since the plans for yatra were announced. The yatra is scheduled on July 22.

“I have been constantly getting such threats ever since the yatra was announced. The police have registered an FIR. In the latest call, an unknown person warned me against being part of the yatra and entering Nuh. He said they had a plan to assassinate me. They even asked me to pay up at least Rs 1 lakh to attend the yatra and get back home safely,” Bajrangi said in his complaint.

Other local cow vigilantes, too, claim to be getting threats, but they have not approached the police yet, claiming efforts were being made to get the yatra deferred and create tension.

“Many of us have been getting such calls regularly. Notorious groups that ruined the harmony last year want to do the same for some political reasons. They want the yatra to be stopped which we won’t allow. And that is the reason we have not approach the police yet. We have asked all gau rakshaks to be alert and safe in the run up to the yatra and even stay clear of any instigation during the yatra,” said Shrikant Pandit from Nuh.

Last year, it was threats like these shared between vigilantes and a group of Meo youngsters through social media that triggered the riots. Bajrangi and Monu Manesar were both dared not to attend the yatra and come to Nuh.

Following the orders of Bajrang Dal, Monu stayed away from the yatra. Bajrangi attended it and issued a video message challenging the local youth and things went down hill. He was eventually booked and even arrested for involvement in riots.

Meanwhile, the local administration in Nuh and the police are taking all steps to ensure peace during the yatra.

The SDMs are meeting people in respective blocks asking to be aware of any provocation.

CM Saini likely to take part in yatra

Right wing outfits, including RSS, have asked the BJP to ensure attendance of a Central Minister or Chief Minister Nayab Saini in a bid to make the Jalabhishek Yatra a “success”. Sources claim that the CM has confirmed attendance and preperations are on for a massive welcome for him, including aerial flower rain.
