Ahead of Union Budget, traders’ outfit flags challenges faced by MSMEs
Gulshan Dang, state president of the Rashtriya Jan Udyog Beopar Sangathan, has raised significant concerns regarding the challenges being faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) ahead of the Union Budget, which will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
He urged the Centre to address the issues plaguing the MSME sector and fulfil the sector's demands for much-needed support.
Dang emphasised that the MSME sector played a crucial role in the country’s economic growth and employment generation. “As the Union Budget 2025 is set to be presented on February 1, we hope that the Finance Minister will prioritise the sector’s challenges and provide the necessary resources to make it globally competitive,” he added.
He stressed that the MSME sector must be supported to reach new heights, thereby strengthening the nation’s economic fabric.
“The Central Government’s approach in previous budgets has been indifferent to the needs of the MSME sector, leading to the near-collapse of many micro, small, and medium industries. Many MSMEs remain non-agricultural and unregistered, which prevents these from accessing government schemes and financial assistance. This informality remains a major barrier to their growth and development,” Dang pointed out.
