the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare decided to set up AIIMS in various states, with the intention to correct regional imbalances in the availability of affordable tertiary healthcare services and to augment facilities for quality medical education in the country.

The state government had earmarked 200 acres at Manethi village in Rewari district for setting up AIIMS. The gram panchayat was to lease the land for the purpose.
