While virtually flagging off the new service, the Chief Minister said this is a major step towards the state’s development, regional inclusion and modern connectivity. “Haryana’s growing presence in civil aviation will serve as the foundation for a self-reliant, progressive and inclusive future,” he said.

The Chief Minister stated that alongside being an agriculture-based state, Haryana is now establishing its identity in civil aviation. “Since 2014, the government has focused on development of aviation sector,” Saini said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated flights from Hisar to Ayodhya and also laid the foundation stone for the airport’s second terminal building on April 14. Hisar–Chandigarh flights were launched on June 9. Officials said that service to Ahmedabad and Jammu would soon begin.

Hisar airport has been upgraded with modern facilities in collaboration with the Airports Authority of India. The installation of Doppler VOR has reduced minimum visibility requirements for flight operations from 5,000m to 2,800m, enabling smooth operations even in adverse weather, said a district spokesperson and added that an Instrument Landing System (ILS) is also being set up to allow night landings.

The Chief Minister added that the government is committed to developing Maharaja Agrasen Airport into a modern, international-level facility with a new terminal, ATC tower, cargo complex, fire station, parking and more, making Hisar an alternative to Delhi airport in the coming years.

Hisar town will also evolve as an air service, industrial, logistics and investment hub. On August 28, 2024, Hisar was included in the Amritsar–Kolkata Industrial Corridor and on August 20, 2025, agreements were signed for an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster over 2,988 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 4,680 crore, expected to generate 1.25 lakh jobs and link Haryana to both the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors.

Public Works (PWD) Minister Ranbir Gangwa, Principal Secretary to the CM Arun Kumar Gupta, Civil Aviation Secretary Amneet P Kumar, Adviser Narhari Singh Bangar and senior officers were present on the occasion.
