All farmers to get soil health cards: Rana

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana said under the 'Har Khet-Swasth Khet' campaign, soil samples from every acre of the state would be collected in the next three to four years and soil health cards would be given to all farmers.

He said under the campaign, so far about 70 lakh soil samples had been collected and after analysing 55 lakh samples, soil cards had been distributed, and the work on the remaining samples was in progress.

In 2022, the department had received a gold medal from the Skoch Group for the Soil Health Card Project. More than 86 lakh cards had been distributed under the scheme. The minister informed that 17 new permanent soil and water testing laboratories had been established in the state and 54 small soil testing laboratories had been opened in various mandis.

Apart from this, 240 small soil testing laboratories had been set up in government senior secondary schools and government colleges. Samples were collected and tested by the students of science. Under the scheme, the 'Har Khet-Swasth Khet' portal was launched by the department in 2022 for soil testing.

Rana further said laboratories had been set up in Sirsa and Karnal to monitor pesticide residues in fruits, vegetables, soil and water. A total of 3,640 samples had been analysed in 2023-24. He said the effort of the government was to test the land of farmers and provide them the right guidance for farming.
