Allegations on HCS (Judicial) recruitment baseless: CM
Responding to the apprehensions of Congress MLA Geeta Bhukkal on the role of the Haryana Public Service Commission in the recruitment of a candidate for the HCS (Judicial), CM Nayab Singh Saini clarified that the recruitment process was overseen by a selection committee under the supervision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, rather than the Haryana Public Service Commission.
“Recruitment to HCS (Judicial) posts is carried out by a six-member selection committee, including three sitting judges nominated by the Chief Justice, the Advocate General of Haryana, the Chief Secretary, and the Chairman of the Haryana Public Service Commission. Hence, the allegations are baseless,” said Saini.
The CM further maintained that the recruitment notice for the vacant HCS (Judicial) posts was issued on January 1, 2024. The advertisement stated that candidates must upload all necessary documents when applying. However, the candidate in question failed to provide the registration number and date on the SC certificate and did not submit the required residence certificate for those claiming reservation. The court's decision regarding the candidate’s appointment to the SC post stemmed from technical issues in the application form, he added.
“Upon review, the selection committee found these discrepancies, and in accordance with the advertisement’s terms and conditions, issued a cancellation notice on September 12, 2024. This decision was challenged by the candidate in the High Court, which rejected the cancellation notice,” Saini pointed out.
Reacting sharply to the CM's remarks, Bhukkal accused him of misleading the House on the issue and sought permission from the Speaker to respond to the CM’s reply. However, the Speaker denied her request, stating that once the CM had made a statement, no discussion would be allowed, evoking protests from the Congress MLAs.
He said she could convey whatever she wanted to say in writing, however, she persisted in her attempt to respond. Taking a stern stance, the Speaker insisted that she send her statement in writing.
