Ambala admn launches drive to put reflector belts on stray cattle to prevent mishaps
In view of the foggy conditions during winters, the district administration in collaboration with social organisations have started putting reflective radium belts around the necks of stray cattle to avoid accidents.
The
Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, who launched the campaign near Manav Chowk in Ambala City, said, “During the foggy conditions sometimes the cattle appear on the roads all of a sudden and such situations can lead to accidents. To prevent accidents, the administration with the support of social organisations has started putting reflective belts around the necks of the stray cattle. The cooperation of residents is necessary in the campaign. Though stray cattle are being shifted to gaushalas, the cattle can be spotted roaming on the roads. The reflector belts will help the motorists, especially during the late hours and in foggy conditions, to spot the cattle and prevent accidents. The dairy owners also leave their animals after milking them, due to which the animals become the cause of accidents on the roads.”
The DC also instructed the Municipal Corporation officials present on the spot to take action as per rules against those who leave animals open after milking them.
Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta has also requested the residents and social organisations of the district to put reflector tape on vehicles such as tractors, buggies, carts and belts around necks of stray animals in their respective areas so that road accidents do not occur.
The DC has asked District Municipal Commissioner (DMC) Sachin Gupta to get reflector belts tied on the necks of stray animals in all four subdivisions -- Ambala City, Ambala Cantonment, Naraingarh and Barara-- of the district, with the help of social organisations and also ensure that the stray animals are sent to the nearest cow shelters.
Meanwhile, DMC Sachin Gupta said the campaign would help in reducing accidents due to stray animals. All efforts are being made to shift the stray cattle to the gaushalas and make the roads safer.
