Members of the district Bar associations of Ambala suspended work for the third consecutive day on Wednesday to mark their protest against the registration of FIRs against a senior advocate in Ambala.
The cases were registered in connection with a land dispute case in Ambala Cantonment.
They said advocate Sanjeev Mohan had legal possession of the land, and yet two FIRs were registered against him. They said the Bar condemned the action and misuse of law enforcement machinery for political vendetta. The act of registration of FIRs based on false facts was not acceptable.
Senior advocate and former district Bar association president Rohit Jain said, “Two FIRs have been registered against a senior advocate under political pressure. Such action will be not tolerated, and it has been decided to keep the work suspended till we get a positive response from the police. The FIRs must be cancelled and an impartial inquiry should be conducted.”
