Ambala, January 29
In a tribute to former Union Minister and veteran BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, a state-of-the-art inter-state bus terminus (ISBT) in Ambala City will be named after her.
A proposal to this effect moved by local MLA Aseem Goel has been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the recommendation of Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma.
The Rs 18 crore project will be dedicated to the public on Sushma’s birthday that falls on February 14, MLA Goel said here on Saturday.
The 67-year-old former Union External Affairs Minister, who passed away in New Delhi in August last following a massive cardiac arrest, was born and brought up in Ambala Cantonment.
Sushma was Ambala’s first and lone woman representative who rose from a student leader to the youngest MLA, minister in the Haryana Government, state president of Janata Party, seven-time MP and Union Minister.
The state-of-the-art ISBT has come up over 8 acres to fulfil the long-pending demand of Ambala City residents. The new ISBT is a three-storeyed structure equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for commuters and visitors.
