Ambala youth stabbed to death, kin set house of suspect on fire

Police cite old enmity as motive behind murder | No arrest so far

A 21-year-old youth, Vikas, of Ambala Cantt was stabbed to death here late Monday night allegedly over some old enmity.

Meanwhile, the kin of the deceased set the house of the main suspect on fire, following which the police registered two separate FIRs.

Sonu, a resident of New Preet Nagar and a friend of the deceased, in his complaint alleged that on Monday night, Vikas called him and told that Arjun and his accomplices were abusing him near Ekta Vihar Chowk. As Sonu reached there, he saw that Saurabh, Suraj, Ashu, Lalit, Arjun and four more youths were thrashing Vikas. Later, Arjun stabbed Vikas in his chest following which he was rushed to the local Civil Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Based on Sonu’s complaint, a case was registered under Sections 148, 149, 323 and 302 of the IPC at Mahesh Nagar police station.

Later, seeking arrest of the accused, the kin of the deceased blocked the road outside the Civil Hospital a couple of times but were removed by the police. The family alleged that Arjun used to force Vikas to sell drugs. They even ransacked Arjun’s house and set it on fire. However, no injuries were reported in the fire incident.

On the other hand, Naresh Pal, suspect Arjun’s neighbour, in his complaint, alleged that on Monday night, Mukesh, Sumit, Ashu and nearly 20 more youths attacked him and damaged his motorcycle. Later, Mangat, Mukesh, Sunit, Ashu, Rahul and other youths set Arjun’s house on fire. Based on his complaint, another case has been registered under Sections 148, 149, 323, 452, 427, 506, and 436 of the IPC.

When contacted, Mahesh Nagar SHO Satish Kumar said: “The body has been handed over to the family after the autopsy and the cremation has been done. A five-member peace committee has been formed. Some people had set ablaze the suspect’s house on Monday night but we timely called in the fire brigade and there were no injuries or loss of life.”

Meanwhile, SP Abhishek Jorwal said: “Two FIRs have been registered in connection with the murder and the incident of setting the house on fire. Also, the claims of the deceased’s family are being verified. No arrests have been made so far.”
