Tension gripped Hayatpur village after some miscreants allegedly vandalised a statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in the area on Saturday, police said.

A member of the village panchayat spotted the statue at Ambedkar Bhawan in Hayatpur village without a hand and a head, and told the sarpanch, Narendra Singh, police said. The village head called a panchayat over the incident and informed the police.
